Our Story (Since 1967)
It all began in 1967 with five couples who shared a love of skiing. We had been skiing together with our
children and wanted to find a way to get more families involved while enjoying the sport together at a more affordable rate.
The idea was simple: bring families together, ski together, and have a great time along the way.
How We Got Our Name
Looking at ourselves in some of our early black-and-white photos, with our children following close behind, we were reminded of a bunch of penguins.
And just like that, The Penguin Ski Club was born.
Thanks to founding member Julius Boess and his way with words, we also have our own ski song, “Think Snow,” which remains part of our tradition today.
Growing Our Club
After four years, we incorporated on January 15, 1971 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the enjoyment of skiing in family groups and fostering fellowship among our members and their families.
Over the years, we have grown through the time, energy, and enthusiasm of our members. We have organized ski trips, races, dances, social gatherings, meetings, and discounted lift tickets, all while building lasting friendships along the way.
Today, we welcome skiers and snowboarders, families, couples, and singles who share our love of winter sports and spending time with great people.
